My mom is angry

For now, this is the best place to be

Right now my mom is very angry and sad at the same time. Fortunatelly not with me, you know I am a good girl. Let me try to explain what happened to her.
Last monday she went to a gas station to put gasoline to her car and she paid with her credit card. Nothing out of normal. Well, last night she got a phone call from her bank. The person calling asked my mom about "unusual" movements with her credit card during the day. Those movements were for about $ 50,000 pesos (around $ 5,000 dollars). She said that she hadn't used her credit card yesterday and that she didn't make any purchase. That means someone made a clone of her card. With that information the bank cancelled the card in that moment to prevent any other purchase with it. My mom was informed that all that money was spent at liquor stores, can you believe that? She had to write several letters and made many phone calls to the bank. The problem is that the bank says my mom has to pay that money while the bank make the investigation and she is not so sure that the bank will resolve this in her favor. And she is angry and sad because she had been saving money to buy a fridge to my grandma and a new digital camera and now that won't be possible.
She can't understand how can someone spend all that money in liquor? My mom says that she has that money but what about if she didn't? And she says its not fair to have to pay for something that you didn't have or enjoyed! I think thieves are thieves and you can't do anything against that.
I asked my mom if I am still going to have my food and my treats and she has assured me that there is no problem with that but I will not have too much more than that for a while.
I hope this could be solved soon.

Oh Lorenza, I'm so sorry to hear about that. It's a credit card fraud case. They may hvae used the money to buy all the alcohol and then try to sell it off the streets at a cheaper price. I hope your Mom manages to resolve it with the bank and maybe a police report is needed??

I am very sorry to hear about your mom's troubles with her credit card. That's a lot of liquor for that much money. In the U.S., if there is fraud on your credit card, the cardholder does not have to pay. Your mom is getting a bad deal. I'm sorry. I hope they get it resolved soon. That's a big bummer.

Oh your poor Mommy!!! Luckie's right...they just want to sell the alcohol. That's a lot of liquor!

Please tell your Mom we're very sorry she's in this situation and we hope it's resolves very soon. And we hope they find out who cloned her card so we can all send them giant boxes of POOP!!

That's horrible! I don't blame your mommy for feeling mad and sad. How can people do that?! I hope everything gets solved soon! I feel terrible for your mommy. :(

lorenza i understand why your mom got so angry. let me tell you what my mom told me. few years ago, the same thing happened to mom credit card too. the bank called and said her credit card was misused with purchase of petrol. coz the bank have a record of mom's petrol purchase so they know how much mom normally use so when they saw a big amount, they suspect the card was cloned. but luckily her bank take the responsible and reverse out the amount that doesn't belongs to mom.

i'm so sorry to hear bout your mom's unfortunately case. u know, in here, they will reverse out the amount until the investigation complete. they should do the same there too coz it's no fault of your mom so why should your mom bear it rite??

Oh my!! What awful news. Our Mom knows just how angry your Mom is. Our housekeeper stole some of Mommy's checks and was paying
her telephone bills electronically through Mom's bank acct last year.
Mom was lucky because our bank reinbursed us for everything but since then Mommy doesn't trust anybody in the house but us and family. It took 3 months for everthing to calm down over that. We pride ourselves in on credit rating but Mommy had so many bounced checks that she had to send a letter from the bank to everybody that got a bounces check.

The worst part is that we liked our housekeeper and trusted her. Mom was really upset because she
said she trusted US with her and what if she had done something to one of us.

WE hope she reported all this to the Police but good luck if she did because they weren't real helpful in out case.

Mommy said we'll keep you and your Mom in our prayers. didn;t stop us from getting lots of treats!!

How horrible for your Mummy. It happened to my Mum twice before. Once the bank actually called her to tell her not to use her card and they will replace it. They told her that her card has been compromised.

The second time she got robbed and lost all her cards. The thieves started buying things with her cards. Luckily she managed to quickly call the banks to stop the cards. She disputed all the charges that the bad thieves made and because the bank couldn't show her the chit with her signature on it, they had to waive all the charges. You may want to ask your Mummy to try this.

Mum should really hassle the bank to sort it out. It happened to my dad once and they just froze the transactions until it was resolved.

Oh gawd... I'm so sorry to hear about this. Those frauds! They sure will get it from me once they're cauht of couse... How could this happen? How did they manage to get your mama's card pin number? Hmmmm... Gets me wondering.

a la jefa tambien la llamaron del banco por lo mismo pero no por el gasto sino porque cancelaron su tarjeta pues donde la habia usado habian puesto un lector de bandas magneticas.
asi que ahora esta sin tarjeta hasta recibir la nueva.

Geez Lorenza! That's too bad. Tell your mom to not let the bank screw her over--they should have fraud protection for these kinds of things!

And goodness gracious that's a lot of liquor. I hope the thieves get one hell of a hangover--they deserve it!

Lorenza, I am so sorry to hear about what happened to your Mommy. There are mean evil people in this world that do mean things like that to nice people like your Mommy. Hopefully the bank will do a full investigation and your Mom won't have to pay for those charges. It's not fair. You're Mommy is the victim here!!

Oh my that is awful. My mom says she should argue with the bank about having to pay those charges. If they already know she didn't make them why should she pay them at all?

Thieves are thieves! They are awlful people!!! Obviously the bank knows this is not your mom's behavior and should adjust the charges. No way should your mom pay for someone else's stupidness!! Sending good vibes.

Oh Lorenza, I am so sorry to hear about the credit card fraud. This is no fun for your mom. I hope she and the banks can get this resolved soon. She shouldn't have to pay for all that liquor that isn't hers. I'm with Sherman, Penny, and Lola -- Each and everyone of us should send those thieves a box of poop!

My grandma had a checking account and a thief had made fake checks to pay his bills from my grandma's account. Not only that, but the fake checks didn't even have my grandma's name on them!! How is it that banks still pay the money out even when it's clear the check is a fake?

Keep us posted on this. And, let this post of yours serve as an alert to each and every dog out there to use their credit cards and checks with caution because there are a lot of thieves out there!!!

Oh no, that is soooo awful. It's happened before to Mama over the web, they steal the credit card number. But Mama never has to pay a dime here in the US. Have you talked to some authorities to see if you really are liable for the monies?? Be sure to check. You should hold off on paying anything to that bank. Was this a regular credit card?? or a debit card that comes out of your checking?? Please let us know what happens with that bank.

I think it's the same here, we have to pay but then it will be given back to you if it is resolved in your favor, but this could take a few months. Mom hates credit cards and hardly ever uses them. But I know sometimes we do but she tries to avoid it at all cost because the interest is so ridiculous! I hope things work out in your favour little one.
