One of those days...

This is our sky last night...

Then the power went off...

Waiting for the "powermen" to come and fix it...

No luck! Better hide and wait until my mom finishes with the HBO words!
*************************************************
Yesterday night, when I went home with my mom, we saw the sky and it looked scary. We thought we were going to have lots of rain. Nope. Not a single drop. But it was windy and it caused the power to went off. My mom called the power company to report it and we waited... and waited... and waited for them to come and fix it. It did not happen. So, we went to sleep, with not fresh air and with 110 degrees. Not funny at all.
This morning, still without power and without an alarm clock to tell my mom that it was time to wake up... she woke up late. 7:24 am. She ran to the shower. She was in the middle of her bath and then... no water! She had soap on her body. She had to finish her bath with a bucket! As you can imagine she got to her office very late and feeling dirty!
She was there when she got a phone call. Someone from the Vehicular Control Office told her that she has to pay a bunch of money for a car that was stolen 13 years ago!
She told him about it and he said that it was her obligation to report the incident to them at that time. (More HBO words).
Do you know that we have to pay taxes every year for the right to have a car?? Can you imagine all the taxes and fines for 13 years??
My mom has the report that the police made when the car was stolen and she is taking it tomorrow to that office and hopes she can do something about it! Wish her luck, please!
Lets hope tomorrow will be a better day!
Have a good night
Besos

Good luck with the car thing. Hy human dad lived in Mexico a few years back and had a few of these frustrating experiences with the authorities.

It's as if you are living HERE, in South Africa. Power cuts, water cuts, stolen cars - that's very familiar! But we share your HUGE frustration...GOOD LUCK!

Lorenza,
Your Mom had a rough day yesterday.
No power, now water....whew. HBO words indeed. Mom calls that talk 'potty mouth'. We believe HBO words is very descriptive. I certainly hope the police report from 13 years ago will help settle the problem. That is just horrible. My peeps very first pet was a mini Dachshund named Toto. Seeing you reminds of of him. Toto was a character. Mom is busy writing some Dachshund Chronicles for the blog. They will be stories about the misadventures of the Mighty Toto.
We'll be thinking of you today,

Hi Lorenza
Sounds like your mom may need legal advice about the car. That can't be right!
Sorry about the weather, the power, the water and everything else!!!
Our hot water is being very tempermental at the moment and mum had shampoo on her hair when it turned very cold - still she managed to finish the shower in cold water which is not so bad as no water at all!!!
We will have our basset paws crossed over here in Scotland for your mom.

Hi Lorenza,

I hope that all of that was just a horrible nightmare!

If not, then I hope that your Mommy was able to get everything corrected, the power on, the a/c going and had a fantastic shower. I hope that right now she is sitting infront of the computer getting ready to tell us all how well everything turned out.

Hugs to you and your Mom, Tessa

Oh, dear, such a bad day. We hope that your mom can get this all straightened out, does not seem fair at all that she should have to pay that money. We have to pay property taxes on our vehicles every year but we at least have our vehicles to use. This is just not right.

Hope you got your power back by now.

Urgh! What a nightmare! I cannot believe trying to go to sleep when it's 110 inside! And then being unable to take a proper shower; that's horrendous.

As for the matter of the car, we hope your Mom will be able to get everything resolved satisfactorily. It's crazy that they are trying to hold you liable for a car that was stolen last decade!

Big hugs, and big cool slobbers to lick off the remaining soap. Yum!

Hi, Lorenza -

Your Mom's day sounds like Mama's "comedy of errors" days. She had a bad yesterday too. The computer was slow at work and the computer was doing not so nice things at home. Some HBO words came out of Mama's mouth too.

The weather has been HOT and HUMID - not very comfortable. Good luck resolving the car issue. It's a good thing your Mom kept the police report. We also have to pay taxes EVERY YEAR on our cars and house too.

Love -

Hershey and Kaci

Ooh, that's terrible about the taxes on the car. I can't believe they'd expect your mom to pay them after her car was stolen. Hopefully they'll come to their senses soon.

I hope your electricity comes back on soon. It must feel miserable in your home at that heat.

I am never suew who reads my followups in the comment section so I just thought I would post here. Grammar mistakes? boy I would have NEVER guessed! You want to hear some awful grammar? Se me olvide mucho de la lengua espanol.

I won't even try saying how many years it has been since I took Spanish. Last time I did, I didn't know how to use the tilde on my keyboard and when somebody put what I wrote in an online translator..well the spanish word for year, without a tilde, just makes for an entirely different statement!
