Helloooo...

First of all I want to say THANKS from the bottom of my heart for all your love and support. First my mom was crying for me and then she started crying when we read all your lovely comments. Thanks for your good vibes and prayers. We have no words to express how fortunate we are to have you all in our lives.

I was able to come home on wednesday night. My mom was afraid to hurt me so my Vet was very nice and he brought me to my home in his truck.

The nerve of my mom! She took this picture while I was still sleepy.
We have been sleeping on the floor.
I am still peeing with blood but my Vet told my mom not to panic. He said it is normal while my bladder is healing.

I went to the hospital with a pink sweater and the bandage in my paw matches it!
Yesterday morning my mom opened the front door and put a blankie there so I could take some sun.

I spent around 40 hours without food. My Vet changed my kibble. Now I have Prescription Diet Renal Health but I did not want to eat. My mom was worried. Me, who enjoy everything edible not doing it?? Oh-oh... I needed to take my meds too and without food in my tummy.... hmmm... My grandma boiled chicken breast for me and I ate small pieces and I went to sleep again. Half and hour later, I went directly to my food bowl looking for something. My mom gave me a few kibbles and I ate them in a second!

My Vet called to know how I was doing and told my mom to give me camomile tea which I refused to drink. Then my mom had an idea (?)... she put 3 pieces of cooked veggies in it... and I loved it!

And now, there is another issue... I can't poo! My Vet told my mom to give me a little spoon of olive oil but it has not worked! Do you know a good remedy??

My mom is worried too about the mass but at the same time she wants to think positively and hopes it is nothing serious.

We know the Power of the Paw is working for me!

Thanks a lot!

Oh Lorenza, we are so happy you are home - and coordinated!
When Bailey was poorly she couldn't poo - she loves tuna so she had some tuna in oil which helped - she would not have had the oil on its own.
It takes a bit to get back to normal.
We were so happy to see you taking the sun too.
Goodness you couldn't be doing that if you were in Scotland!
Do take care - take things slowly - tell mom to sleep in the bed with you right next to her on the floor.
It is very important that moms don't get too exhausted - they do worry so.

Lorenza, it is SO good to see you home and recuperating!

Mom says she has noticed that after any of us hounds have had surgery that usually our apetites aren't too good for a couple of days. She thinks it's the anesthesia, and also that the medicine upsets our tummies a little. She often gives us a tablespoon or so of canned pumpkin (NOT the spiced stuff, the plain stuff) and that often helps poop problems.

We so have our paws crossed for you to keep getting better and to get good news back from the vet!

Hi Lorenza,

I so sorry that I'm late - I just found out that you are not feeling well. How are you today?

In the past, when I had constipation, the Missus will give me some natural plain yogurt so that I can poop easily and it worked. This method was recommended from my vets. You might want to check with your vet or do a bit of online research. I think a tablespoon a day for you is enough - not too much or else you'll risk getting diarrhea.

I haven't tried pumpkin but I've heard from many dog owners that this method also works.

I hope you get better soon and please let us know how you are getting on. We are thinking of you.

Love,

wow, we know all about pooing.... you may not be pooing because you did not eat for so long, there is a big empty space in your intestine....also, the meds stop your intestines...the pain killers sometimes stop everything for awhile. Lastly, the best thing for poo problems is canned pumpkin (not sweetened). It has lots of fiber and water and vitamin A. It makes hard poo softer and soft poo harder- it just fixes everything. If you like it.

We're so glad you are home and recovering. Please tell your mom not to worry about the poo; if you don't eat for 40 hours, you don't need to poo. That's normal. It wouldn't hurt for your mom to add the little bit of olive oil to your food every day for a while, to help "grease the works." Sometimes anesthesia and/or the pain medicine can cause constipation, and it takes a few days for the drugs to completely leave your system.

We just read the other comments [guess we should have done that first]. Boiled pumpkin or the non-pie canned kind should help. Not familiar with plain yogurt as an aid, but it makes sense. You're probably on antibiotics, too, and the yogurt will help replace the good bacteria you need in your gut to help process your food and move it through. If you don't like yogurt, pro-biotics might help.

We hope you feel better real soon! You take it easy, rest in the sun, and concentrate on healing. We all continue to have our paws crossed for your recovery and that your lab test results are good. Merry Christmas, sweetheart!

Hi Lorenza
We are so glad that you are home. Hope today is better than yesterday for you. Take things one day at a time and every day you will feel better & better.
Brutis our Rainbow Bridge kitty had to have surgery on his bladder because of stones. The stones were white & as hard as teeth with sharp points. The stones were blocking up everything & he couldn't pee. He made it through the surgery & never had another episode. He did have to eat a special food for the rest of his life.
We're are still sending lots of our feel good doxie rayz your way and mom is praying that everthing is ok with your health.
Give your mom a kiss from us.
Love Ruby & Penny

Hi Lorenza. I'm so glad your home and it sounds like your momma and your grandmommy are taking real good care of you. You just relax and let them wait on you hand and paw, okay?

I've been thinking and thinking about you and sending happy wishes and thoughts down to Mexico for you. I sure hope you've been able to feel them.

I hopes everything turns out A-OK and that you get feeling your normal self again real soon!

Wiggles & Wags,
Mayzie

Oh Lorenza! I'm so so happy to hear that you are home! And it sounds like you're making a good recovery, even if it is slow. I am sure everything will work out eventually - your body is probably still getting used to the shock of the surgery.

I am not sure what to suggest for your poo. My humans usually give me olive oil also - or more vegetables but I don't know if you are allowed to eat vegetables now.

Anyway, I hope you will work it out soon!

Just want you to know that we are thinking of you from far away...

Dear Lorenza,
We are glad to have you back. You need to eat to get well and also to get rid of the constipation. You can't poo if you haven't had anything in 40 hours. When I had a problem three years back, I was eating nothing, and I wasn't evening opening my eyes...then these two started feeding me boiled, crushed fish (the boneless type) and I began eating. They fed me every two hours in the beginning because I was eating little...then I began eating more, and in a couple of days I was okay.
Your mom can try giving you some fish paste.

Lots of love and get well soon.
Licks n wags,
Right now not feeling so wise:(

Hi, Lorenza -

We are soooooo glad that you are home from the hospital. We will still send you lots of healing kisses and paw hugs.

We know you are strong - dachshunds and schnauzers come from Germany so we have to be strong.

We agree with some of the posts that you probably have not had too much to eat so that is why you cannot poo. But we are sure once you get your appetite back you will be better in no time!

Love -

YAY! What good newS! We are soooo glad you are back, Lorenza! And we are amazed with your sense of style, not even kidney stones can dampen it hehehe.

Take care girl!

P.S Me think you havent eaten much, hence the absense of poo.

OH my Lorenza... I am so sorry I'm coming in so late. Out paws and toes and fingers are crossed for you that the mass is nothing.

Did you have kidney stones or bladder stone? Did they work on your kidneys as well as bladder or only bladder? Was mass on your bladder?

Let us know if you need any help, mum has been reading a lot, and she's experience in kidney related stuff.

Thinking of you pretty gurrrrrl!!

ps. you asked about my homemade jerkies. Mum bought a Nesco dehydrator from Amazon and that's how we make my treats.

Love nibbles,
Miss Sunshade

Ohhhhh poor baby... it breaks our heart to see you unwell. We are crossing our paws (and fingers) for good results on the mass.

For doggie constipation, you may want to try boiled pumpkin or bananas... good luck with it!

Sending lots of healing vibes..
