Believe it... or not

This is a real story.

Last August, my mom saw in the newspaper that our Postal Service had increased the postage costs by more than 500%! Her jaw hit the table and after putting it again in place, she took the phone and called to the PS Office. They told her it was true. Oh-boy! I heard lots of HBO words! To give you an idea about the new costs let me say... the postage for a card that weighs 20 grams (0,705479239 oz) used to be 1 dollar. With the increase, the cost would be 5.50 dollars!
Was in that moment that my mom told me that if the Christmas Card Exchange would be organized, we would not be able to be part of it.
I was very sad. I did it for the past 3 years! Then, when it was time for the register, I sent an email to Sprinkles saying that I wanted to participate but that I would send only e-cards.

Then... it came December and I got serveral e-cards which I loved. I did not get a single card by snail mail and I thought that it was fair. If I did not send real cards, nobody was going to send to me real cards.

This was my face expression when I knew about the postage costs!

Pfffrrrrtttt.... dedicated to the Postal Service in Mexico

Today, January 22, I was with my mom while she was cleaning our house.
(And as you can see I was helping her a lot!)

Then... ding dong!

She went to open the door and she found on the floor...

48 Christmas Cards!
The mean Mailman had gone away so my mom could not ask to him
WTF???
But.... he is going to hear her next time he comes!!
We know the PS in Mexico is bad... but not this BAD!

Snoopervising my mom...

TA-DAAAAAA!

Thanks a lot my friends!

Christmas is over... but I am going to have your cards displayed here for some more time!

Have a good night
Besos
Lorenza

PS. The last week, the Government announced that there will be a review of the ridiculous increase of the postage costs! I guess my mom was not the only one complaining about it!
I hope they keep their word!

  4. We got some wonderful photo cards just like you did, Lorenza. We just sent regular cards and next year we will try for a photo card, I hope. But e-cards or snail mail cards, its just the thought that counts, isn't it?

    Kisses,
    Stella

  5. You had me worried there! I hope our card was in the pile - we weren't sure about the postage, but we didn't have anything returned to us. I can't believe the post office held all those cards back! But belated Merry Christmas!

  6. Wow Lorenza, that mail delay is just awful! I was glad to see our faces up there.

We received your e-mail card, printed it out and hung it up. As Stella said, it's the thought that counts.

We hope that the mail situation gets better soon.

  7. Oh, how neat. We're so glad you got all those Christmas cards even if they are a month late. You know your friends care.

That is a scary raise in postage. Who can afford to send mail at those prices?

  8. Everyday is a Xmas day for you Lorenza! What a unexpected pleasant surprise.. I have to say, I enjoy those surprises the most !

I think u should keep those Xmas cards until the new batch comes at the end of the year!

  9. Holy cat feathers! That is an outrageous increase! I hope they do review things. It'd be one thing if you paid that much and got your mail on time, but a month late is a bit ridiculous!

At least you finally got all your cards!

  10. Maybe your postal man was jealous of all the cards that you received.

Now you get to keep your Christmas joy!

I do hope your PS would review this increase seriously, it's a ridiculous increase!!!

  12. Talk about inflation! Our postage costs have been increasing too. But my human doesn't send snail mails much. Still...

Looks like the Christmas festivities will be around for awhile more.

  15. Wow, that really is expensive. We sure couldn't afford to send a letter either. It would be cheaper to call someone. Glad all your Christmas cards finally got there. Take care.

  16. Oh Lorenza, what a sweet girl you are. I am not surprised that you got so many cards. Too bad your mailman brought them so late!

  17. What a wonderful surprise that must have been! We know we sent you an e-card, but we are sure we also sent you a real one. Hope it arrived there. Those are really ridiculous increases in the prices. We hope there are some adjustments made.

    Happy Christmas in January.

  18. Oh Lorenza, This just proves that you are soooo very much loved by your furends. I am sorry that it took so long fur the mean mailman to give your cards to you. I think they should stay up until Valentine's Day... just to show how the Christmas Spirit can last for the entire year.

  19. Lorenza we are in total shock...that many cards were delivered all at one time. Shame on the postal service. We will be interested to hear the reason it took so long!!!

But what a nice surprise. I bet you and mom had fun reading them.

  20. We support e-card. It's cost saving and we help save the environment.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I see my card!

I ran out of them mid-way. But I sent yours out in the early batch so it would get to you in time. Next year I will have to order more. How much are postcards? Maybe that is more economical? I'm thinking of that for next year. But I like e-cards too!

    Hugs,

  22. Wow! That is a lot of cards, too! Holy cow. So, my Mom wants to confess that she was cleaning the other day and found your card that she has not mailed yet... so you'll be getting another one as soon as she gets better and can go to the post office!

  23. That is so fantastic, all those wonderful cards from your friends. Mexico is a crazy place, first someone stealing the internet wire from your street, and now the postal increase!

  24. Ohmidogness! That is KER-AZY! But how very much fun that it's still Christmas at your house. And my mom says that that is a LOT of green papers just to mail a card. Her jaw also hit the table when she read that. And then it hit the table again when she saw all the cards you got at once. Her jaw is gonna have a bruise, I think.

We looked on your door and didn't see our card -- we hope it didn't get lost -- or is waiting for the next batch in a month or so!

    Enjoy Christmas in January!!!

  54. We're glad your Christmas cards did finally arrive - and all at once! If the postal service is going to increase the rates that much, the service component should be getting 500% better. Seems to us a very short-sighted plan, as people will use the postal service less and less and pretty soon they will have no business and no jobs at all.
