Powerless saturday afternoon...

We were peacefully watching the golf and a soccer game.
And then.... we heard a very loud BOOM!... and then of course... we were without power.
My mom went to the window to see what had happened and she saw...

A scary sky... and a dust storm that caused the problem.
My mom called to the power company to report it. And they took 2 hours to come and fix it.

I was waiting for them... and then...

They finally came to fix it.

We don't know who planned the electric lines but something funny (?) happens when we have strong winds or rain because it leaves us without power but it only affects the traffic lights that are in the corner of our street, the house of the neighbors who live in front of us and our house! All the others around us always have power!

I kept an eye on the men working on the lines...

It took more time than normal to fix it... and I waited some more... and then TA-DA!
Lights on!

Thanks a lot my friends! But I hope I won't see you again soon!

This was not a happy saturday...

But now we have our power back... and the tv's.... and the internet... and the nice fan working in front of us!
Soooo.... I have to go now to visit your blogs!

Have a good night
Besos
Lorenza

  3. At least it was only two hours! We had to go without power for a week here after a tornado took out the power lines to our town for miles. It's such a pain when it's not working!

  4. Oh, what a pain, Lorenza. We don't lose power too often, but it does happen once in a while because our lines are not underground. The Moms say it used to happen much more often, but they must have improved something over the years. When it does, a lot of the time on our block it's just our house, the one next door and the two houses across from us. There are probably other houses affected on other blocks, but it is just aggravating to be blacked out when the house next door is all lit up like normal. Anyway, I'm glad you're back up and running.

    lotsa licks, Lola

  5. Lorenza,
Sometimes in the winter, we can be without power for 3 days. The first day is fun, like camping! Then it gets old and cold real fast!!

  13. Gosh, the electric company needs to put more knots in your wires so they stop coming apart so easily, Lorenza! Don't they realize who you are and that you NEED your comforts?!

  18. Lorenza what a bummer to be in the middle of two very interesting events and bam no power!!!

Good job on Mom quickly reporting it and on you my sweet as you snoopervised the workers.

We have underground power in our neighborhood but it goes off a lot too and sometimes for no apparent reason. When we call the power company they tell us a transformed miles from us has a problem. Very interesting how they have homes hooked up so far away from the source.
