I have been taking care of my mom... but... something went wrong...
Yesterday, she came home with all these meds...
This morning we started to read your blogs...
And watching some tv...Here in Mexico we have a popular saying... "Estas mas salado que un moco en medio del mar" which more or less means... "You are more salty than a mucus in the middle of the sea"... There is nothing more salty than that, right?
And salty for us means unlucky...
These two days have not been the best for my mom.
Yesterday, as you know, she had her "toofie" surgery. Her Dentist applied 10 shots to her. 6 anesthesic, 2 antibiotics and 2 painkillers. She says the shots were more painful than the surgery itself. Everything went well but she came home with the right side of her face sleepy, a chubby cheek, a bunch of meds and a big list of things she is not allowed to do!
Later in the afternoon, she had a big headache. Her Dentist called to know how she was doing and prescribed her another pill for the headache.
One of the things she has to do is to sleep almost steady... and that was hard. She is used to sleep with her face buried on the matress! Of course... she could not sleep a minute.
This morning, her headache was much worse.
We came down to have breakfast and then she said she wanted to sleep a little to feel better. But I wanted to go with her so she bent down (one of the things she is not allowed to do!) to pick me up and while we were on the stairs, she injured her back!
As she could, she reached the phone and called her other Doctor. She explained to him what had happened and he prescribed her another med! And this one is one of those you have to put under your tongue and it is so disgusting that she wants to puke everytime she has to take it!
So far, she has:
A big chubby cheek
A big headache
A big tummy revolution
A big and painful back
Salty?? Naaaah!
She planned to go back to work tomorrow but seems like that will not be possible. And I am very happy with that.... not that she is in pain but that she will be at home with me until next week!
I promise I will take good care of her!

ReplyDeleteOh Lorenza, I am so sorry that your mom is in pain. I'm sure will take the best care of her. When my mom is not feeling well, I give her licks and snuggle up against her on the sofa. I think it helps.

Poor Mom, Lorenza - take good care of her. We think she needs to stay home tomorrow and take it very easy - maybe you can get Grandma to come help you. We are so hoping things are better tomorrow - that is an awful lot of medicine.

ReplyDeleteLorenza, I kow this will be kind of hard for you to do, butt I'm thinking that you shouldn't sleep very sound. Just take little (ugh) Cat naps... so you can watch your mom very carefully. She may need your help again... like she did when she had the rock in her kidney thingy. OK???

Ya se sabe que hay un dicho aquà muy antiguo (creo que aparece en Don Quijote de la Mancha), un episodio en el que alguien pregunta ante un difunto: "¿De qué murió?" y responden: "Murió de médicos". Oh Lorenza, I'm so sorry for your mommy and i'm happy that you are happy to help her in this tough time. I'm also like your mommy always "salty" my 4 teeth creates problem for me every now n then, my stomach is usually upset and im coughing these days as usual and in summers i have runny nose!

Oh Lorenza, take care of your mom! My mom hurt her back last week so her tooth work was rescheduled to this Saturday. Her back is better now but she says she can sympathasize with your mom's headache because my mom gets migraines. She said to tell your mom to put an ice pack on her head and keep the room dark and cold. That always makes my mom feel better. I hope she feels better soon!

My Goodness,what happened to your mom? And so many medicine to take! No wonder her tummy is feeling strange. I had only one shoot for anesthesia and next day I felt my head blowing up.
